Notes for Families
- Welcome back and Happy 2020! We are excited to start the New Year!
- Field Trip slips for the Alvin Ailey Dance Troop performance at the Auditorium Theater will be sent home this week- keep a lookout.
- Snack – Students with the last name starting with M-Z, please bring in snack for the month of January. Please bring enough for 21 students. We have nut allergies in the class so please bring a snack without nuts/peanuts.
- We are still collecting lunch forms!
What is happening in class….
Math- We will do 4.8-4.11 this week. We will focus on measuring using feet, inches, centimeters, and explore using arrays. Please keep practicing telling time at home.
Reading – We continue to put all of our nonfiction strategies to use and also determine the main idea of a paragraph or topic.
Writing – We will write a book about what we are an expert so that we can make “How To” books. Students have chosen a topic that involves movement (dance, soccer, planting a garden) and formulated a table of contents and are now writing chapters.
Social Studies – We will continue to research different native american tribes in the U.S. and learn how living in different regions affected their way of life.
Science – We will be observing how plates move by cutting out along the plate boundaries on a map.
