Week of September 30th

 Weekly Newsletter September 30th

Volunteer Application:  Please fill out the volunteer form online if you have not already.

Field Trip Information: We will be going to the Field Museum 10/31.  Please let me know if you can be a chaperone.

Math- We will review for Unit 1 on Monday and take the test on Tuesday.  We will begin Unit 2 on Wednesday.

Reading –  We have started literacy centers and guided reading.  We also have started a new objective when reading which is “authors have intentions, so pay attention.”  We are looking at books as both readers and writers and noticing the writing moves that authors do so that we can understand what makes a book powerful.

Writing – We are starting the second bend of our narratives unit and digging deeper into our stories.  We will also be introduced to our revision checklists and read our stories with different lenses.

Social Studies – Last week we discussed what it means to be a classroom citizen.  This week learn/discuss what it means to be a global citizen.

Science –  We will make a model with clay of the continental and oceanic crusts.  We will dig deeper into the different types of rocks that make up the crust.

If you have any questions, please email me at  emsweeney@cps.edu
